Electrical Safety Awareness in Housing

The ideal introduction to electrical safety. Gain an understanding of the basic principles of electricity, learn how to recognise potential dangers and understand the responsibilities we all have in keeping residents, ourselves and our colleagues safe.

Electrical Safety Awareness in Housing is designed to raise awareness of electrical safety issues amongst staff working in social housing. This course equips learners with essential knowledge, including basic electrical principles and terminology. It is particularly suitable when providing inductions for new staff, or for building the knowledge of all staff members who visit properties, interact with tenants or need to understand organisational and tenant responsibilities regarding electrical safety.

Learners will gain an understanding of how to identify and mitigate risks through simple user checks and safe practices. The potential dangers of unsafe work or behaviours will be highlighted through real-life examples and case studies.

Finally, this course will provide learners with an overview of key legislation and landlord responsibilities, helping them to understand their role in ensuring compliance and keeping themselves, colleagues and residents safe.

As we have evolved to learn from past mistakes and make improvements in safety, various measures and materials have been put in place that can increase safety. This lesson will focus on those measures most relevant to the housing industry.
